More Aussies are journeying to South Africa for holidays - Holidays Travel News

As more Aussie travellers are tending to visit foreign locales on their holidays, several far away countries are welcoming the influx of guests and hope to expand their tourism offerings in the near future with the additional revenue. For instance, in 2011, South Africa experienced a large growth in Australian visitors, which has led officials to focus more on this market.

Some experts say this is partly due to the World Cup that took place in the country in 2010, which sparked a global interest in the locale. Aussies are football fans and many made the pilgrimage to South Africa for the games. Currently, tourism representatives are focusing on the safety and affordability of South African holidays to those who may have to take long flights to reach the region. Informational websites are being launched and conferences are teaching travel agents who the best targets are to market the country as a viable choice for travel.

"The destination offers value for money and to remain competitive we have introduced many new products to offer any traveller regardless of their budget," The Honourable Marthinus van Schalkwyk, the minister of tourism for the republic of South Africa, said in a statement. "Activity-based Tourism is the direction for 2012 and by attracting the Australian and New Zealand market, we will be focusing on outdoor holidays, golf, hiking and of course the safari."

According to the Australian department of foreign affairs and trade, venturing to South Africa is a safe and ideal destination, as long as tourists are smart about their plans and what they do while abroad. Like any foreign locale, there will be a degree of unfamiliarity that the government says to be ready for while travelling. Have a copy of important documents and leaving valuables at home can ensure a South African vacation will be pleasant and enjoyable.

Aussie travellers can look out for ongoing trends in the industry, as they may benefit them and their future travel plans. When a destination starts to focus on Australia, they may be offering special getaway packages and discounts to increase the number of visitors even more. Those who have considered Cape Town holidays for their next trip may save money as tourism representatives work on making this city and the rest of South Africa more enticing.
