Six Flags Over Texas, one of America's largest theme parks, has entered its 50th anniversary season and plans to celebrate the special milestone all year long.
Located conveniently between Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, Six Flags has been a local favorite ever since it opened in 1961 and is considered by many visitors to be the highlight of their trip to the area.
Steve Martindale, the park's president, said, "we look forward to celebrating this milestone anniversary year with every guest and would encourage those who haven't visited in a while to come back and rekindle their favorite Six Flags memories."
Starting June 18, "50 days of Fun" will entertain park visitors with concerts, celebrity appearances and special giveaways.
Thrill seekers will love the new Texas Giant, a wood and steel hybrid rollercoaster with a custom-designed track including three 90-degree bank turns and the world's steepest drop on a wooden coaster (79 degrees). There are 12 other exciting thrill rides to get an adrenaline rush.
There are dozens of rides for families to enjoy as well in the park.
