Thrill-seekers often like to challenge themselves while on holidays, which may mean trying new things that push their physical and mental limits. One way to experience a rush of adrenaline is to conquer the world's most exciting roller coasters, which can be found at theme parks across the globe. While sightseeing can be a great way to experience a new locale, sometimes Aussie travellers may just want to let their hair down and venture to some of the newest coasters debuting this year as well as some old classics found worldwide.
No matter how uncertain the economy makes travellers feel about their holidays, most will continue on with their plans and find ways to relax while on their trips. This trend is allowing theme parks to expand their offerings that will entice more guests to ride the latest roller coasters that seemingly break the laws of physics and leave patrons with a hair-raising experience.
The holiday World theme park in Santa Claus, Indiana, is now home to the longest water tube coaster in the world, called the Mammoth. At more than 500 metres long, the tube takes guests over hills, through sharp turns and along speeding straightaways all while sitting in a multi-person tube. Although not like traditional coasters, these water rides can be just as thrilling and fast, making water attractions more popular than ever.
"The perception of water parks and water rides is making a shift," Brad Goodbody, marketing manager for Mammoth creators ProSlide Technology, told MSNBC. "Previously, they were seen as theme parks’ poor cousins but now you have rides that will get people to come back month after month."
Other roller coasters are opening in the country this season that Aussies can visit as well. Travellers can visit SeaWorld in their San Diego holiday packages and ride the new Manta roller coaster open this year.
Aussies who are taking holidays in the near future can make plans to visit some of these coasters that are a thrill for the whole family. Cultural and historical exploration are important parts of travel, but so is having fun and experience classic vacation activities like theme parks.
