One of the fastest-growing cities in the hotel industry, Bangkok, Thailand, is planning to add three more lodging options by 2014.
Swiss-based Movenpick Hotels & Resorts recently announced plans for three new properties in the Thai cities of Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui for the next three years, signaling the company's attempt to expand in Asia.
"We are pleased to significantly expand our presence in such a magnificent and flourishing country," said Andreas Mattmuller, chief operating officer of the hotel group's Middle East and Asia branches.
The Movenpick Hotel & Residences Bangkok, located near the Victory Monument area, will feature 266 modern rooms and suites, in addition to another 100 residences. Unlike other Bangkok hotels, the Movenpick will include a collection of loft-style guest rooms for travelers to take advantage of.
Due to open by 2014, the new hotel will offer a prime location for all kinds of travelers, with easy access to the nearby sky train and Airport Express link. In addition, the hotel will be located close to the city's downtown shopping areas.
