Single and loving it: Best cities for independent Aussies - Venice Travel News

Basking in the glory of the single life? Hop on flights to San Francisco to start a perfect holiday, meeting new people and mingling with locals in the world's best single-friendly cities. Whether Aussies are looking for a sweet bar scene or music festivals, there are plenty of fish in the sea and the best way to find that special someone is to take a trip around the world.

San Francisco: For the sophisticated single

There will be plenty of bar hopping further along the list, but San Francisco is the perfect warm up for a swinging singles holiday. Known for fine dining and a bustling city life before the sun sets, San Francisco is brimming with young intellectuals eager to meet foreign travellers with a penchant for adventure. The Mission has recently welcomed a new generation of residents, and with a large Latin American population, most restaurants have hefty tequila menus along with authentic Mexican dishes. At Mosto, Aussies can choose from more than 300 kinds of tequila as they sample pork and pineapple tacos.

New York City: For the sleepless single

The lights of Times Square never dim, making residents and visitors feel as though the sun never sets in the city that never sleeps. Single Aussies can while away the hours bar hopping at the chicest clubs and concert venues in town without having to worry about anything closing until the sun comes up. Just a short train ride over the water into Brooklyn and young Aussies can find a completely different party scene. Quickly becoming the hotspot for 20-somethings, Brooklyn's bar scene features some of the best up-and-coming DJs, endless drink specials, and of course, a handful of young and beautiful singles.

Venice: For the artsy single

Aussies who would rather wander the halls of museums and take long walks along a veranda can take flights to Venice, Italy, and enjoy the peace and solitude of a city that has managed to retain its old town feel while embracing an influx of young students and artists. Singles who would rather spend their holiday as a wall flower can spend most of their time taking themselves on dates and having conversations with the chess-playing gentlemen in the main square. Of course, if travellers want to get to know the locals, there are countless outdoor wine bars to choose from.
