Germany is one of the best travel destinations in the world with its breath-taking natural beauty, interesting history and exciting festivals, and it appears that many people are aware of the country's wonderful nature as a tourist spot.
One day this past August, more people arrived in Germany on flights to Frankfurt than ever before. An astounding 184,825 flew into Frankfurt Airport on August 1.
The airport didn't stop with the record breaking there however, as the month of August went on to become its busiest August in history and its second busiest month ever.
Specifically, 5.2 million people traveled through Frankfurt Airport in August of this year, marking a 6.6 percent increase on the same month in 2009.
Frankfurt Airport executive board chairman Dr. Stefan Schulte said that the figures show the importance of the airport on the international level.
"Now that we are back on a steady growth course [Frankfurt Airport's] capacity expansion is more urgent than ever. Furthermore, our latest traffic figures underscore [Frankfurt Airport's] position as one of Europe's most significant international air transportation hubs," he said.
