Fijian airline undergoes massive changes - Lautoka Travel News

The national carrier of Fiji, Air Pacific, is undergoing some major changes that will bring the company back to its roots and put their customer base as top priority. Over time, the airline plans to change its name back to Fiji Airways, which was its original brand in the 1950s. Officials hope that this will give passengers a better concept of the business by alerting them of improvements such as new itineraries and modern aircrafts.

Fiji has long since been a popular destination for Aussie travellers, as it provides a tropical locale to explore by taking a flight east off the coast of Queensland. Recently, a leading airline has been working to launch a campaign that will rebrand its offering and further entice Australian tourists to holiday on the islands.

Many of the changes are slated to take place in July.  Not only will the airline's name be reverted back to its own brand, but aircraft interiors will have new colour schemes and A300-200 planes will be introduced to the fleet next year.

"Returning to Fiji Airways will better reflect our role as Fiji's national carrier, and also assist by growing Fiji tourism and interest in the nation," said David Pflieger, managing director of Air Pacific.

Why Aussies venture to Fiji

Aussies often choose to visit Fiji on their adventure travel excursions because of the island's remote beaches, tropical landscapes and friendly people. Travellers frequent the Sigatoka River, which is surrounded by exotic flora, fauna, and many friendly villages that put on cooking, dancing and crafting demonstrations for foreigners. Several tour groups organise boat trips for travellers who wish to be guided along the waterway to experience the best sites.

Aussies won't want to miss the chance to pick up some local produce and handmade goods at the Suva Municipal Market. As the largest bazaar in Fiji, guests to the islands can find an array of interesting souvenirs and food, such as taro root, flowers, coconut, berries, hand-woven mats and jewellery.

Aussies considering a trip to Fiji should book flights through Air Pacific or other local carriers, as this may be the most convenient and wallet-friendly way to reach the island nation.
