Now might be a better time than ever to book London holiday packages as the UK's tourism industry has an estimated 1.5 million holidays left unsold.
While 2010 has been touted as a year of recovery for the tourism industry, holiday operators in the UK are cutting prices to unload their excess packages, according to Travel Daily News.
“While industry figures show rough 40 percent price [cuts] across the board, some companies are already selling packages at 75 percent less their original cost," said one industry insider. "It’s a trend that can only spread throughout the remaining weeks of summer.”
There are a number of explanations for why the UK tourism industry has thus far struggled to sell as many holidays as it intended. Some proposed reasons include families deciding to forego a vacation to watch the recent World Cup and the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland that covered Europe for a number of weeks.
With such drastically reduced prices travelers may want to book a holiday to capitalize on the opportunity.
