Just 14 km and a mere twenty-minute drive from Nice-Côte d’Azur International airport, nestled between Nice and Cannes, Antibes/Juan-les-Pins has been a lively hub of Riviera social life since the late 1800s. Originally a Greek shipping port, the town attracted artists, writers and musicians, lured by the balmy weather, gorgeous Mediterranean coastline and peaceful pine groves. Yachties berth their craft in Port Vauban, at the marina dubbed Billionaires’ Quay, to attend the springtime Antibes Yacht Show or race in the legendary Antibes Regatta (Les Voiles d’Antibes – Trophée Panerai). It is also the home of water-skiing (invented here in the 1930s), and a scuba diving mecca, situated in a vast maritime reserve.
Antibes’ fame owes much to the long-running Jazz à Juan international jazz festival, Europe’s oldest jazz festival, which takes place every summer and features performers such as James Blunt, James Morrison, Nicola Henry and others (in 2008).
Facing the Lérins islands, this restaurant just a few steps from Bijou Beach boasts stunning views. The interior harks back to 1923, when the restaurant was first built. Its windows come from boats which are made from boat timbers and the white facades covered in woodcuts were sourced from beach huts.
