Montreal is one of the oldest and most remarkable cities in North America, and possibly the least ‘American’. A day spent wandering among its old buildings, cobbled streets and terrace cafés is more like a day spent in the heart of Europe, and you’re far more likely to hear French spoken here than English. With over three and a half centuries of history, this marvellous city has sights both old and new, and is a vibrant centre for Canadian arts and culture.

When to go to Montreal?
Winters (December-March) are cold. January is the coldest month (Montreal is colder then than Moscow); warm months are June to September; July is the hottest and most humid. Summer is festival season with plenty happening. Autumn colours are spectacular here, so October is well worth considering, and there’s often an "Indian summer" early in the month. There’s skiing in and around the city from November to April.
