What to expect

When to go

With a mild tropical climate and lots of sunshine, Fiji is ideal almost any time of the year. You can find various styles of accommodation on several of the beautiful islands that make up this island destination. The Fiji winter from May to October is cooler, with less rain and humidity, and if you like your idyllic islands less crowded, plan your visits for November and December, or March and April in the wet season.

Must see sights

Fiji: Visit villages for the authentic Fijian lifestyle. Walk white sandy beaches, or walk through rainforests, and see sunsets over vast blue water.
Nadi: The Hindu shrine is reportedly the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and is worth a visit.
Mamanuca Islands: Feed the 'tame' fish at the famous Marine Sanctuary.
Coral Coast: An ancient fortress holds interesting artifacts revealing Fiji’s historical rituals.

Insider tips

Find great holiday deals at the top Fiji resort areas of Denerau and the Coral Coast, easily accessible from the airport by car or bus. For holidays outside Viti Levu, be aware flight or boat connections are required. Please see hotel pages for more details on transportation options or call 1300 EXPEDIA (1300 397 3342).
If your trip includes a stay on the outer islands be sure to coordinate your transportation before you arrive as many islands have limited transfers from the main island towns of Nadi and Suva.
When in towns or populated areas, cover up your bikinis and swim wear with the wrap-around sulu to avoid offending the locals.
If you really must keep in touch with time, take a travel alarm clock as many islands generate their own electricity and digital clocks can reset when generators are used.
No need to tip in Fiji. Simply smile and say "Vinaka" - thank you.
