What to expect
When to go
Summer is a great time to visit Amsterdam, when you can bathe in the sunshine by
the canals and marvel at the beautiful galleries and museums. To avoid the
crowds, try the city in winter, when the streets and museums are quiet – if the
weather gets cold enough see the famous canals turned into giant ice rinks
enjoyed by visitors and locals alike. In spring, when the bulb fields are in
bloom, the city comes alive with colour and vibrancy.
