The popularity pendulum at this spot has swung from hot to not and back to hot. The city's hippest North Beach hangout in the late 1950s and early '60s saw its luster fade after the retirement of famed owner Enrico Banducci. These days, however, the mellow nightly jazz combos, indoor-outdoor café, and an excellent menu (mostly Italian) are attracting new regulars.
