Taverna Angelica The area surrounding St. Peter's Basilica isn't known for culinary excellence, but Taverna Angelica is an exception. Its tiny size (just 20 seats) allows the chef to concentrate on each individual dish, and the results are impressive. The menu is creative without being pretentious; such dishes as chickpeas with a fondue of pecorino cheese, lentil soup with pigeon breast, and breast of duck in balsamic vinegar are exquisitely executed. The candlelit dining room, tasteful decor, and excellent service are icing on the cake. Reservations essential. Address Piazza A.
