Tucked away in a small street on the south side of Trastevere, Asinocotto is off the beaten track. The menu includes delights such as smoked tuna with fava beans and cinnamon and minestra di fagioli cannellini con pasta alla castagna (cannellini bean soup with chestnut pasta). Daily specials might include a Parmesan basket filled with spinach and quail, or sea bass with baby vegetables and ginger. For dessert try the chocolate torte with green tea granita or the delicious pears in vanilla. Asinocotto also has an extensive selection of teas, a rarity in coffee-centric Italy.
