Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain Cartier Foundation. This eye-catching contemporary art gallery (funded by jewelry giant Cartier) is a perfect example of the architect Jean Nouvel's interest in new kinds of glass. Launched in 1993, the exhibition space seems to be a series of glass cards, layered between the boulevard and the garden. The nearly self-effacing building highlights a cedar of Lebanon planted 180 years ago by French writer Chateaubriand, who once lived at this address. Along with thought-provoking art shows, the foundation hosts performance nights on Thursday evening. These Nuits Nomades start at 8:30; call for the program. COST: EUR4.60. Métro: Raspail.
