Fauchon Fauchon remains the most iconic of all Parisian food stores. It's now expanding globally, but the flagship is still right behind the Madeleine church. Established in 1886, it sells renowned pâté, honey, jelly, tea, and private-label champagne. Expats come for hard-to-find foreign foods (U.S. pancake mix, British lemon curd); those with a sweet tooth make a beeline for the macarons (airy, ganache-filled cookies) in the patisserie. There's also a café for a quick bite. Prices can be eye-popping -- marzipan fruits for EUR95 a pound -- but who can nay-say a Fauchon cadeau. Métro: Madeleine.
