L'Amnesia, with its whitewashed walls, fake palm trees, and house music, tries to make clubbers feel like they're on the Côte d'Azur. When it opened beneath the Tour Montparnasse in 2003, the large dance floor and the glamour surrounding owner/rock star Johnny Hallyday were the main draws; whether those enticements will have staying power remains to be seen.
