House of Blues

From the outside, House of Blues resembles an old factory; the inside looks like an old church, complete with angelic frescoes. In any case, the southern cooking is truly righteous. Best bets are smoked baby back ribs (worth the $20 price tag) Cajun meat loaf, and Louisiana crawfish and shrimp étouffée, as well as the "Elwood" sandwich -- blackened chicken with chili garlic mayonnaise and sour cream. For dessert, try the white-chocolate banana bread pudding with cream anglaise. The place gets noisy when the live music plays (11 PM-2 AM); lunches can be almost serene. The Sunday Gospel Brunch ($30 adults, $15 children 4-12) is a feast worth its price tag.
