Downtown Disney West Side Downtown Disney West Side is a pleasingly hip outdoor complex of shopping, dining, and entertainment. A 24-screen AMC cinema shows first-run movies. For something a little different, drop by for a beer and a baba-lu at Gloria Estefan's Bongos Cuban Café (PHONE: 407/828-0999). Cirque du Soleil (PHONE: 407/939-7600) starts at 100 mph and accelerates from there. It's 90 minutes of extraordinary acrobatics, avant-garde stagings, costumes, choreography, and a grand finale that'll make you double-check Newton's laws of motion. Shows featuring 72 performers are scheduled twice daily, five days a week (call for current performance schedule). Adjacent to the House of Blues (HOB, PHONE: 407/934-2583) restaurant, which itself showcases cool blues starting at 11, HOB's up-close-and-personal concert venue brings local and nationally known artists playing everything from reggae to rock to R&B. DisneyQuest is a five-story video-virtual-reality mini-theme park, and there's a Wolfgang Puck Cafe, a Virgin Megastore, plus an avenue of eclectic shops. |
