Irvine Museum Some of the Californian impressionist paintings on display at the small yet intriguing Irvine Museum depict the state's rural landscape in the years before massive freeways and sprawling housing developments. The paintings, which are displayed on the 12th floor of the marble-and-glass Tower 17 building, were assembled by Joan Irvine Smith, granddaughter of James Irvine, a rancher who once owned one-quarter of what is now Orange County.
