Queens Museum of Art Although the Queens Museum shows contemporary works by many interesting local and international artists, it's best known for its astonishing Panorama, a nearly 900,000-building model of the five boroughs made for the 1964 World's Fair. The exhibit, brought up to date in 1994, faithfully replicates the city building by building, on a scale of 1 inch per 100 feet. The model's tiny brownstones and skyscrapers are updated periodically to look exactly like the real things (a red, white, and blue ribbon now hangs on the World Trade Center). Another permanent exhibit, the Neustadt Museum Collection, brings together Tiffany lamps and windows, many of which were made in nearby Corona, Queens. In front of the museum is the Unisphere, also built for the World's Fair. Made entirely of stainless steel, this massive sculpture of the Earth is 140 feet high and weighs 380 tons. COST: $5 suggested donation. Subway: 7 to Willets Point/Shea Stadium.
