Jewish Museum

One of the largest collections of Judaica in the world, the Jewish Museum explores the development and meaning of Jewish identity and culture over the course of 4,000 years. Housed in a gray-stone Gothic-style 1908 mansion, the exhibitions draw on the museum's collection of artwork and ceremonial objects, ranging from a 3rd-century Roman burial plaque to 20th-century sculpture by Elie Nadelman. The two-floor permanent exhibition, "Culture and Continuity: The Jewish Journey" displays nearly 800 objects. Special exhibitions focus on Jewish history and art. COST: $10; Thurs. 5-8 pay what you wish. Subway: 6 to 96th St.
