Times Square Visitors Center

When it opened in 1925, the Embassy Theater was an exclusive, high-society movie theater; a few years ago the lobby of this landmark theater was transformed into the city's first comprehensive visitor center. Beyond getting general information about the area, you can buy sightseeing and theater tickets, MetroCards, and transit memorabilia; use ATMs; and log onto the Internet for free. There's also a video camera that shoots and e-mails instant photos. Free walking tours of Times Square are given Friday at noon. Perhaps most important, its rest rooms are the only facilities in the vicinity open to the nonpaying public. Subway: 1, 2, 3, 9, N, Q, R, W to 42nd St./Times Sq.
