Park Avenue Cafe

Folk art, antique toys, and sheaves of dried wheat decorate this inviting New American restaurant. Chef Neil Murphy's presentations are imaginative and extraordinarily delicious -- such as butter-poached lobster with morels, diced asparagus, and tender gnocchi. The bread basket and desserts are visual masterpieces presented with equal flair by the exuberant waitstaff. Some critics say they miss founding chef David Burke, but a reservation can still be hard to come by. Reservations essential. Subway: N, R, W, 4, 5, 6 to 59th St.-Lexington Ave.
