Sweet 'n' Tart Café & Restaurant

You'll be handed four different menus at this multilevel restaurant. One lists an extensive selection of dim sum prepared to order; another offers special dishes organized according to principles of Chinese medicine; a third lists more familiar sounding dishes, such as hot-and-sour soup; and the final one lists curative "teas" (more like soups or fruit shakes, really). Don't miss the yam noodle soup with assorted dumplings, or the fried rice with taro and Chinese sausage served in a bamboo container. The original café, with a more limited menu, is up the street at 76 Mott Street, and some think it has better food. Subway: 6, N, R, Q, W, J, M, Z to Canal St.
