The granddaddy of L.A. markets dates back to 1935, and the huddle of clapboard stalls, eccentric regulars, and, oh yes, produce and wares must be experienced to be appreciated. The Grove, extending from the old marketplace, has an ersatz European feel, with an outdoor café, fountain, tiled walkways and a small trolley that gives rides around the property.
