Rodeo Drive Shopping in Beverly Hills centers mainly on the three-block stretch of Rodeo Drive between Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards and the streets surrounding it. This "Golden Triangle" recently received a new embellishment: a "Walk of Style," which honors fashion industry stars with plaques. While you may feel cowed by some of the astronomical prices or chicer-than-thou attitudes among salespeople at the most exclusive stores, most shops present a friendly sales front to the public. Consider a tour of Beverly Hills a field trip, since most of the boutiques present their wares like works of art, and many of the poised, polished shoppers resemble mannequins. Around this tourist hot spot, many celebrities sneak into their favorite shops before or after hours or through back entrances. Be advised: some stores are by appointment only. There are several free (for two hours) parking lots in the vicinity. |
