Paul Smith He's your man if you don't want to look too outlandish but you're bored with plain pants and sober jackets. Smith's well-tailored suits have a subtle quirkiness (like an outrageous, witty flash of colorful lining); his shirts and ties have a sense of humor; and his jeans and sweats are cut well. Customers include Paul McCartney, Harrison Ford, and David Hockney. The boutique itself is worth seeing: it's re-created from a Victorian chemist's shop, and Smith's own collection of toiletries and jewelry (women are also catered to here) adorns the shelves. The sale shop for discontinued lines is at 23 Avery Row (W1), and the minimalist-style women's store is at 84-86 Sloane Avenue (SW3). Westbourne House (122 Kensington Park Road, Notting Hill W11) is Smith's shop in a house designed to feel like an actual London home where women's, men's, and children's clothes and accessories are arranged in homelike settings. Tube: Covent Garden. Address 40-44 Floral St., London WC2, EnglandPhone 020/7379-7133
