Browns

It was the first notable store to populate South Molton Street, and it seems to sprout more offshoots every time you visit it. Well-established, collectible designers (Donna Karan, Romeo Gigli, Jasper Conran, Jil Sander, Yohji Yamamoto) rub shoulder pads here with younger, funkier names (Dries Van Noten, Clements Ribeiro, Anne Demeulemeester, Hussein Chalayan), and Browns also has its own label. Its July and January sales are famed. Menswear gets a corner, too. Bargain hunters should hotfoot it down to Browns Labels for Less at No. 50. A branch of mainstream Browns is at 6C Sloane Street (Knightsbridge SW1). Tube: Bond St.
