Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

Yes, it's a tourist trap, but it's also the most historic of all London pubs (it dates from 1667), and it deserves a visit for its sawdust-covered floors, low wood-beam ceilings, and the 14th-century crypt of Whitefriars' monastery under the cellar bar. But if you want to see the set of 17th-century pornographic tiles that once adorned the upstairs you'll have to go to Blacks Museum. This was the most regular of Dr. Johnson's and Dickens's many locals. Tube: Blackfriars.
