The Banyan Veranda is steeped in history. From this location the radio program Hawaii Calls first broadcast the sounds of Hawaiian music and the rolling surf to a U.S. mainland audience in 1935. Today, a variety of Hawaiian entertainment, with an emphasis on the sounds of the steel guitar, continues to provide the perfect accompaniment to the sounds of the surf.
