Exclusive Oilily Store Children's clothing has never been the same since Willem "Olli" Olsthoorn and his wife, Marieke Olsthoorn, launched Oilily in Alkmaar in 1963. They burst on the fashion scene with colorful, funky, and wildly chic clothing and accessories. They are most famous for their dazzling, nearly psychedelic, colors and patterns that evoke kaleidoscope visions and glass millefleurs. Now a global name, the only shop in the world that showcases the entire collection is Exclusive Oilily Store, set on Amsterdam's most renowned shopping street. This emporium caters to women and children. Here, you'll find babies' toes are kept toasty in flowered "mini-mukluk" winter booties, their heads kept free from drafts in snug caps with bunny ears. Bigger boys and girls can wear warm fleece coats which, with a few buttons and snaps, resemble penguins (complete with faces and feet). Mothers can color-coordinate their wardrobes to match those of their kids, or mix and match their own distinctive, fun-fashion statements. The toys are equally funny and well made, such as Heddles, a cute plush horse who fits into a red traveling case and can be dressed in his own little overalls. Address P. C.
