De Oesterbar The Oyster Bar has long been a local institution with many regulars, including the country's grand old dandy of letters, Harry Mulisch. Its Parisian-style ambience and service make a bow to legendary Atlantis, thanks to the eerily lighted fish tanks that line the walls and are refilled twice a day with dining options (a scenario that is sure to give angst to animal-lovers). Although a tad overpriced, top selections here are their oysters Rockefeller fresh from the Oosterschelde in the south of The Netherlands and/or the straight and honestly prepared catch of the day. Depending on your tastes, avoid or embrace getting booked into the upstairs dining room, which was seemingly designed by a 1950s bordello owner. Reservations essential.
