Taking care that the incendiary level is palatable, this small, busy, and relaxed neighborhood restaurant acts as a good, albeit not too adventurous, Intro to Indo course. Near Museumplein, for the last 30 years Sama Sebo has been dishing out rijsttafel, a feast with myriad exotically spiced small dishes, in an atmosphere characteristically enhanced by rush mats and shadow puppets. There are also simpler dishes such as bami goreng (spicy fried noodles with vegetables and meat options) and nasi goreng (same, but with the noodles replaced by rice). There's also a bar where you can wait, have a beer, and get to know the regulars.
