Skaters, joggers, cyclists, and sun worshippers gather in Vondelpark each summer to enjoy the great outdoors. However, between late May and September, they're joined by culture vultures, who head to the Vondelpark Openluchttheater for its program of music, theater, and children's events (theatrical events have, in fact, been held in the park since 1865). During the festival, Wednesdays offer a lunchtime concert and a midafternoon children's show; Thursday nights find a concert on the bandstand; there's a theater show every Friday night; various events (including another theater show) take place on Saturday; and theater events and pop concerts are held on Sunday afternoons.
