The Fiji Islands – Where to go

Nadi

The gateway to western Fiji, and the arrival point for most international travellers, Nadi (pronounced Nahn-dee) features markets, local culture and hotel accommodation.

Denarau Island

Denarau is 20 minutes from Nadi, and is best known for its luxurious resorts. Home to myriad activities, including an 18-hole championship golf course, Denarau serves as the launching point for many island transfers and cruises.

Coral Coast

One of the premier resort regions on the mainland, the Coral Coast begins at Momi, 20 kilometres south-east of Nadi. The area boasts spectacular scenery, traditional Fijian villages, coral lagoons and sandy beaches.. A popular destination among families, Coral Coast offers a wide variety of accommodation (try the 'bures').

Mamanuca Islands

The Mamanucas consist of a dramatic arc of 13 volcanic islands, sweeping out from the mainland (called Viti Levu). These romantic islands afford a relaxed, graceful pace of life, with white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters.

Yasawa Islands

The Yasawas sit north of the Mamanucas, and are the memorable setting of the much-loved film, The Blue Lagoon. Offering a mix of backpacker resorts and five-star properties, the Yasawas are breathtaking, with white sandy beaches, tranquil waters and lush tropical rainforest.

Vanua Levu

Often considered one of Fiji's best-kept secrets, Vanua Levu hosts more than a dozen small, intimate resorts, which are easily accessible by air or local ferry. Surrounded by coral reefs and turquoise waters, Vanua Levu offers some of the best snorkeling and diving spots in Fiji, such as Rainbow Reef. Kayaking and rainforest walks are also popular.

Fiji Transfers - Getting Around Fiji

Many of Fiji's most beautiful beaches and resorts are located on the islands surrounding Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, such as the Mamanuca, Yasawa and Kadavu groups. Depending on where you stay, your transfers around Fiji can add a little excitement to your dream holiday. For example, if you are staying on Malolo Island in the Mamanucas, you can race there on an exhilarating speedboat or take in the sights on a leisurely ferry from Pt Denarau.

Our team of Fiji Experts can help you choose and book all your transfers while you book your hotel and flights – just call us on 1300 850 458 and let us plan your perfect holiday.

Fiji Weather - When to go

For beach-lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, Fiji is enjoyable year round. For dry and sunny days, the best time to see Fiji is from April to October, when the average temperatures range from 19C to 27C. Warm ocean currents nourish Fiji's pristine tropical beaches and coral reefs, making Fiji the perfect escape from a cold winter. Suva tends to receive more rainfall, which sustains the lush rainforest on the eastern side of the main island, Viti Levu.

Fiji Currency and Visas

Australian and New Zealander passport-holders receive a free visa on arrival in Fiji. Passports must be valid three months beyond the intended stay. Fijian dollars are the only currency used, and credit cards are widely accepted.

Fiji Flights - Getting there

Air Pacific, Qantas and Air New Zealand fly from most Australian and New Zealand capital cities to Nadi twice-daily, usually in the early morning and early afternoon.

Direct flights from Sydney take almost four hours, from Auckland roughly 3 hours.
