This buzzing business hub is a hive of activity that caters for international crowds with its shops cafés and restaurants.

Amsterdam’s World Trade Centre (WTC) is a vast complex which sees a mix of international businesses alongside residential housing, retail outlets and art exhibits. The hub provides many commercial facilities, including a conference centre but it is also popular with visitors, who come for its great choice of retail outlets, restaurants and art exhibits.

The WTC, located in the Zuidas business district can be reached from the city centre in less than 10 minutes by metro, tram or bus. Its nine towers and two spacious halls make it the world’s largest complex of its kind. Each building is designated by a letter, and building H is the tallest with 27 floors.

Over 300 companies occupy the office space, continuing Amsterdam’s Golden Age tradition of attracting world-wide trade. Don’t be surprised to overhear Japanese, Russian or French being spoken, as well as Dutch and English.

Step into the impressive atrium space, a venue for many cultural events. You’ll see the work of up-and-coming artists on display here, promoted by the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts. The H tower hosts temporary exhibitions of works by celebrated contemporary artists from across the globe. Live performances and lunchtime concerts are also held here from time to time.

Treat yourself to some retail therapy in the many shops located inside the complex. You’ll find upmarket boutiques offering fashion and accessories including watches, pearls and diamonds, perfect for the discerning shopper. After a hard morning’s shopping, visit the on-site hair salon or one of the beauty salons for an afternoon of pampering.

Beforehand, stop off for lunch in one of the many cafés and restaurants on the ground floor. These eateries serve up a selection of mouth-watering cuisine including sushi and noodles as well as traditional Dutch and other European food.

The closest train stop connecting the WTC with the city’s transport hub is Station Zuid, located in Zuidplein, a courtyard filled with trees and landscaped flowerbeds. The WTC is also a short journey by train or car from the international Schiphol Airport. You’ll find that there are many quality hotels in the vicinity, suited to the many travelling business people. Some concerts or special exhibitions may charge an admission fee.
