"The staff here, aside from the lovely man in the dining room for breakfast , were minimalist at best. The front desk staff were well below par. The hotel is pretty basic and the town itself doesn’t have a lot to offer - look elsewhere for a Douro experience unless you want to see the church stairs."

"Arouca monastery MS Collection hotel was wonderful probably the most beautiful and unique hotels we have ever stayed. The old monastery high end amenities beautiful indoor pool sauna gardens. Great restaurant for dinner and breakfast"

"Good location. Rooms were a good size and clean. Beds were comfortable but pillows were dire and should be renewed. Good breakfast with friendly staff and nice location on the upper floor. In general, reception staff came across as aloof and unfriendly."

"Puro Dao is one of my best hotel and spa experiences. To start with the location; It is located in the outskirts of a charming village in the countryside. There is a station 2 minutes away so you don’t need a car to get there. Once you inside you fell relaxed and very welcome by the lovely staff. Everything is perfect from the different climate smart light to the materials and over to the furnitures and interior design. The Spa is amazing and so is the outdoor pool in the garden. The nature surrounding the village is great for hiking and there is different hiking trails. After the hike I recommend a treatment in the spa, I got a hot stone massage which was heaven. Finally, don’t miss the great local wines and food in the restaurant, or the breakfast. "
