Good: The location was great, very close to the main Termini station for airport and many other transport links and within easy walking distance of a number of sights. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even when we arrived early. We were able to leave our bags with confidence and they even placed them in our room for when we got back from exploring a few hours later. There are a number of restaurants on the same block as the hotel and the one directly next door had phenomenally good food at reasonable prices.
Not so good: the room we had was a little dated and worn with a few missing tiles in the shower but it was very clean. The noise insulation between the rooms wasn't brilliant but didn't disturb us when we were trying to sleep
The Marcella Royal Hotel is a lovely hotel with extremely friendly, courteous and helpful staff. The room was clean and nicely furnished. The room was quite large with a large tiled bathroom. The roof top terrace is a lovely area to sit and relax after a hard days sightseeing. The views are magnificent with a clear view of St Peters Dome. It is breath taking at night. The breakfast room is located next to the roof terrace and has the same lovely views. A lovely environment to start the day. The choice at breakfast catered for all nationalities and tastes with hot and cold food. The hotel recommended we booked a Vatican tour which was reasonable and allowed us to jump the massive queues and do the tour in a constructive way with a very knowledgeable guide. I will definitely stay at this hotel again. The location was perfect and we had such a lovely relaxing stay at this hotel where all our needs and expectations were met.
Hotel Re provided foundation for very successful & happy trip to Rome. Great staff: manager Maurice [that's the English language version of his name] is built like a rugby lock but a lot more welcoming!! As soon as we hit the desk he pulled out a map to show us the best way to get to places, highlighted the areas to avoid at night, what buses to use, suggested places to eat & where to shop. Hotel is quiet in area where there are a lot of Government Ministries and it's clean. It's close to the city centre & there's a good supermarket about 10 minutes walk away.
Be aware that hotel lobby is on 2nd floor [the lift to it was built during Caeser's time] the breakfast room is a bit cramped & internet for guests slow. Nothing, though, that would stop us going back there again.
"Hotel is central for sightseeing & staff terrific"
We arrived after 2200hrs having been collected by hotel car and greeted with a very warm welcome that never changed throughout our stay; taxis, maps, info, umbrella, wi-fi, computer and printer also available for on line check in.
Our rooms were most comfortable and immaculate. The bathroom spacious, clean and a brilliant powerful shower. The linen and towels all changed daily which in the October heat of 26degrees was wonderful along with air con. A mini bar well stocked and replenished daily. Room service was available for drinks/cocktails and snacks. We heard no sounds of traffic or of any other room.
Breakfast was more than adequate offering something for everyone from fruit, cereal, pastries to egg and sausage. The service here was amazing and deserves a special mention as it was maintained throughout the week - they knew what we wanted before we did! Well done!
We were celebrating our 40th wedding Anniversary and were accompanied by our best friends who when arranging for champagne to be served in our room, were advised by the management of the hotel that they would do this with pleasure and at their cost. What a lovely surprise this was on our return from a long day sightseeing. Thank you again Hotel Mascagni.
Our housekeeping was amazing, like a fairy godmother visiting each time we went out! Thank you again - the turn down service was especially nice.
The cocktail bar was small and romantic with excellent service and drinks - Thank you too.
Thanks Hotel Mascagni x
we opted for the sahred bathroom option. everything exceeded our expectation. Thank you Rudolph for being a fantastic host. only critisim would be the cig. smoke in the building which is a little off putting.but that does not affect the room or reception.
the shared bathroom was tiny for me i could barely fit in it being an avg size male, but everything was very clean.
Rudolph hoepfully you received our thank you note :)
