"Excellent hotel"
The hotel was ideally located in the northern area of the Venice Island close to the bus and train stations. There were plenty of restaurants and shops on the Main Street and these were much cheaper than in the southern part of Venice. All major attractions were within walking distance but the vaporetto stop is close by if you don't want to walk far. The hotel staff were very polite and helpful and the rooms were cleaned daily, were very comfortable and surprisingly quiet for being so close to a main street.

"An old villa with modern interior"
A 17th century villa with a modern but comfortable interior. The hotel was well situated, having a bus stop right outside with a half hourly service. We were interested in visiting both Venice and Padova. The bus to Venice took half an hour and Padova, in the other direction, one hour. Bus transport is cheap and tickets can be purchased from the camp site next to the hotel.

"Good location, nice rooms, limited services"
This was a nice place to stay. It's a 'relais', and also 'agriturismo', ie it's set in pleasant countryside within a working farm. You can walk round the grounds and see the animals, and many of the items in the breakfast buffet are homemade on the farm - butter, eggs, jam, even honey. The downside is that this really isn't a full-on hotel. The reception is only staffed for a few hours a day, there's no room service, the restaurant (which looks great on their website) is only open on Sundays, and use of the 'wellness centre' (pool, jacuzzi, gym) is not included in the room charge. Instead, it will cost you 30 euros per person per day. We used it as a base for going into Venice, Verona and up to the mountains at Belluno, which was fine, but we were a little disappointed at not being able to go for a quick swim in the mornings.

"Great city hotel"
Stayed 2 nights in November for a romantic break. Have never been to venice but certainly appeared to be one of the nicer hotels we came across and given how expensive the city was, was extremely good value.

"comfortable and convenient"
We got off our train and the hotel is right across from train station. Booked a regular room and got a mini suite, 20' x 17', pleasant surprise. Hotel staff helpful and efficient in booking tours of Uffizi and Academia. We planned to take the train to go to Siena on our own but found out that morning the trains and buses were on strike for one day. Spur of the moment changed our plans and hopped on a local "Walkabout" bus tour right across from train station and hotel. 12 hour tour visited Siena, Chianti Hills with wine tasting and lunch, San Gimignano and Pisa, good value at 90 Euro per person. Went to Santa Maria Novella Basilica near the hotel for Sunday mass for an Italian religious experience and the Archbishop of Florence was there, another good surprise. This was our first visit to Florence and spent most of our four days there hoping from museums to churches. Recommend that if you only have a few days there, select just a few museums and churches to tour and allow enough time to leisurely and aimlessly stroll along the narrow side streets and take in the charm, sit down and people watch and check out the architecture around you. Mid October is a great time to visit, less tourists and no need to buy Firenze Pass, just book through hotel staff.

    The Floating City

One of the best things about Venice is that it’s the only place in the world where you can literally spend hours wandering around the winding streets, completely lost, without a care in the world! The city is made up of 118 islands linked by canals and bridges, making getting around by boat ideal and for a surprisingly modest fee you can take a vaporetto (waterbus) to anywhere you want to go. But if you’re in a romantic mood, no trip to Venice would be complete without a ride in gondola, with your own personal gondolier at the helm who may even sing a few lines from a Verdi opera, if you’re lucky!

All signs in Venice point to St. Mark’s Square (Piazza San Marco), the hub and focal point of the city with its truly remarkable architecture and staggering numbers of pigeons (and tourists). St. Mark’s Basilica and Campanile (belltower) will take your breath away whereas the Doge’s Palace and Museums give you some idea of the wealth the Venetian State in times gone by. Other stops on the tourist trail, and must-sees for any visitor to Venice, are the Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto) with its bustling market, the wonderful Academy Gallery (Galleria dell’Accademia) containing countless masterpieces from the world’s most renowned artists, and the fascinating glass works on the Island of Murano.

Finding a good hotel in Venice can seem daunting considering the huge number of accommodation options and visitors to the city. However, Expedia.com.au offers you peace of mind and does the hard work for you, with its large selection of high-quality and competitively priced hotels, that are fully bookable online, and the website is constantly updated with thousands of honest reviews left by genuine travellers.
