the heart of the medieval town of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Take advantage of the calm environment of this 5 star hotel while been very close by the historic monuments of Avignon.
Rooms
Calm and elegance are the order of the day in this historic hotel. Its 39 rooms were completely reconceived and renovated in a pure, modern style by Geneviève and Jean-André Charial, owners of the emblematic L’Oustau de Baumanière and La Cabro d’Or in Les Baux-de-Provence, and creators of Les Maisons de Baumanière.

Dining
Fabien Fage, the chef from Arles who trained with France’s top chefs, uses market-fresh regional produce to create dishes inspired by Mediterranean that are in perfect harmony with the exceptional surroundings in which they are served. On sunny days, you can enjoy his innovative cuisine outside on a flower-scented terrace. The hotel garden, with its profusion of roses and its wisteria-draped pergola, is ideal for a peaceful stroll.

“Very good hotel”
A very good, very expensive hotel in a quiet ancient town. A word of caution, our room, in the older part of the hotel, did not have a walk-in shower, which could be difficult for some older or handicapped guests.
“Le Prieure, a suberb value”
The staff is superb, they are friendly, knowledgable and accomidating. The rooms are large by European standards, with large bathroom. The location is in walking distance of shops, restaurants, and galleries. A bus stop down the street has buses every 20 minutes to Avignon, which is the 2nd stop from where you are picked up (short bus ride). So, you can be in the center of the action or not, your choice. The restaurant was unbelievable. It was 2X as good as the Luis XV in Monte Carlo, at half the price. We had such a wonderful time, we asked to have desert on the terrace and the staff setup a second table for us outside for desert. We will go back and nest time stay longer to try their spa.
“A Great Provence Experience”
Le Prieure met our expectations for a Relais & Chateaux property. The setting was beautiful, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was well appointed and comfortable, and we had a wonderful dinner at the hotel on Saturday evening. We stayed three nights at Le Prieure. Options for dinner nearby on Sunday and Monday nights were limited but we did find a chariming cafe around the corner. We did have a bit of trouble locating the hotel initially and resorted to our Blackberry GPS to guide us to the hotel, where we did find ample parking and a staff ready to help us settle in. One suggestion we would make relates to the bathroom shower, which was a hand held device in the bathtub. There was hardly a dry surface after my husband took his shower. Adding a glass door of some sort would definitely help keep the bathroom dry. Overall, our stay at Le Prieure in Villeneuve-les-Avignon was delightful and we would definitely stay there again.
“Exceptional property and staff create a lovely experience”
Upon arrival we were given a large, elegant room overlooking the pool and garden. The staff is extremely professional but also gracious and welcoming. The property is beautiful. We dined one evening at their restaurant. It was a mild evening so we took a table in outdoors in the lovely courtyard. The food was spectacular but I must mention again that the service at Le Prieure is exceptional - warm and attentive. Any stay there becomes a special occasion. It is well worth a side trip to stay at the hotel.
“A piece of history”
The hotels in Avignon were totoally booked so we had not sought out this hotel but we were delighted. Worth the short trip to the city center.
“PERFECT”
A GEM HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
“absolutely fantastic”
Great room, Great staff, a beautiful setting. One of the BEST hotels we have ever stayed in. We had checked out on the final morning and spent the day in town and came back about 6pm to collect the luggage all hot and they immediately gave us glasses of water to drink without asking. This an example of the quality of service they provided along with a magnificent hotel HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
“As wonderful as we remembered”
We stayed at Le Prieure 37 years ago for one night and since it was so special, we decided to use it as our home for 6 nights as we toured Provence. The hotel did not disappoint. The rooms have all been renovated with modern and very large bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable. But most of all, the ambience and service were just perfect. The restaurant is one of the best in the area.
“A good hotel”
We enjoyed our stay very much. All staff, particularly in the restaurant, were friendly and attentive. Food excelllent, front desk efficient and very helpful. Only the occasional passing TGV train noise disturbed our rest and disturbances from the ongoing facade restoration work were minimal.
“Great location, character,ambiance and service.”
This small medieval village is a real French experience and not to be missed. The hotel dates back to 1322 as the residence of Cardinal Arnaud de Via, nephew of reigning Avignon Pope Jean XXII. I stayed in the old part of the original structure and it exuded charm and the bath room was amazing with all new very elegant fixtures including a luxurious tub and separate shower and a towel warmer. The hotel was only a two minute walk to the town square and the whole historic village which includes a monastery founded in the 14th century, a medieval fort, and aprivate abbey founded in the 10th century and there is more!
