“Great location”
This is a great hotel.
“Come back again”
I like this hotel
“Bedbug Infestation Warning”
Having stayed several times before I was happy to be back and in the old, far nicer, part of the hotel. After a late arrival and even later Avignon Festival shows I fell into bed at 2am - and woke around 5. First indication was blood on the sheets - which it became quickly clear was the sign of a major bedbug infestation in the bed. It was completely disgusting - I killed probably a dozen bedbugs, many fully grown (in other words they'd been around for some time). This was bad enough (and a week later I have over 100 bites all over me as an unwanted souvenir) - but the response of the hotel was the real problem. No regret, no apology, no remorse - not even any surprise - utter indifference. After 25 years of traveling for work this is the most disgusting experience I've ever had in a hotel (and on check-out the hotel even tried to make me pay the laundry bill for the pyjamas I gave them to have cleaned). So while bedbugs may be unavoidable, bad service is not - and none of this bore any resemblance whatsoever to a four star hotel experience - I have received far better service in generic chain 2/3 star hotels in the US. Beware. This place is truly awful.
“The Jeckel and Hide Motel”
In a few words. Don't stay here unless you are guaranteed a room in the NEW SECTION The old rooms are only suitable for retired Monks, they have minimal bathing facilities in bad repair. Barely two feet of hanging rail, three clothes shelves, no drawers. and A/C system that only circulates room temperature air. And I suspect has been that way for the last twenty years. On arrival we asked to be relocated near our friends in the new wing but was told that it was IMPOSSIBLE. throughout our nine day stay. Our room ,124, was overlooked by room 128's bathroom window so we had to keep the shutters closed., making the room a dungeon, two bedside lights and a small table lamp (120 watts total) produced only a glimmer of light. No available electrical outlets .No drawers. No way to get a morning coffee without dressing and going to the dining room and purchasing full breakfast. Limited room service. Good points , location, some parking (often full), good on site restaurant., Nice public spaces. Many nice English speaking staff, but many who said "It's impossible" way too many times .Forget the ambiance of the old rooms (not that our's had any) and stay in a new room or find somewhere else.
“Great location”
Great location - close to the `old city'. Friendly staff. Only comment is that the rooms in the `modern' section did not have direct access ie. you needed to carry your bags up or down several stairs to enter the room. Could be a challenge if you had heavy bags or had mobility issues.
“Nice hotel terrible host”
When I checked in the hotel we were given a room that was not part of the main hotel space. In fact, the rooms were under construction. Beware that these rooms are larger, but do not have the character of the original hotel. This hotel was once a monastery which makes it original and charming so you want a room in this section. We complained and were given the "so called" last room in the main hotel which was an extremely small room on the top floor. All the rooms are small, but this was extra small. In summary, the hotel is very charming but the service is terrible. You have to fight for a nice room. The town of Avignon is great and is a must see.
“more like a one star hotel”
the rooms were very small and had limited headroom. the shower was just a hose with a light water flow. the staff was dismissive and unhelpful. our laundry was not returned at the time stated in writing and the staff would not even acknowledge the problem. Unwilling to give advice-- referred us to the tourist office down the street. WiFi did not work anywhere in the hotel.
“Excellent location”
The location of this hotel is ideal in my opinion. Close to the shuttle stop yet tucked away. It is pretty and quaint. I stayed in the "old" section which was nice. They also have a rooftop pool. The shower is a bit small but that is really the only problem I had and it was fine. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it.
“Great stay in Avignon”
The hotel is well located just off the main street and close to cafes and the historic sights. The ambiance is pleasant and the public areas are attractive and welcoming. The pool area is great for sunbathing and relaxing. Very pleasant place to stay.
“Beautiful Hotel”
I thought it was a beautiful hotel with great views of the surrounding area, making for a memorable stay. The overall standard was very high and I enjoyed my night at the hotel. My only complaint was the lack of dinner. As far as I remember there was no indication on the internet that they did not provide any meals apart from breakfast. I could not go out for dinner and I would have loved to have had dinner there or some thing more than tea and cake that night.
