Monte Clare is a great hotel for the price and just a short walk from the center of Dublin. The front desks staff was exceptionally helpful helping us navigate around the city sites and even coordinated travel arrangements to Galway. Really a big help. The hotel's entrance looked quite clean and well kept. The rooms were as expected per the sites photos. The only (extremely minor) complaints I can possibly come up with is was lack of outlets near the bed & in bathroom and no washcloths. Other than that, it was a great place to stay!
We had a great 2 night stay... close to everything, within walking distance to bars and shopping, we liked the size of the room and the staff were very pleasant. It was our honeymoon and they surprised us with 2 plates of cheese, crackers and fruit. It was delicious and a nice treat!
The O'Callaghan Davenport is well situated for walking to top visitors' sites in Dublin including the Book of Kells, the shopping on Grafton Street, Stephen's Green and the Archaeological Museum. There's a pub just across the street for artisanal brews and pub grub as well as an internet coffee shop with nice pastries. The staff was excellent in assisting with questions, wake-up calls, and arranging the cab to the ferry terminal and airport. There was free wi-fi for guests, which worked well, and we were able to print out our boarding passes and Folklore Dinner reservations through their lobby computer, which was great. It is an older building so has its quirks but it was perfect for us.
Most helpful staff. Left the bags after early arrival. Quick easy checkin after a day on the hop on hop off tour, wonderful room. Ate lunch and breakfast there, both meals delicious. Great pub lunch quite crowded with locals at lunch. Location right near Trinity College. Easy walk to everything.

I was in Dublin for a conference and chose this hotel for its location - it's right across the road from Trinity College and very central generally. I was a little concerned about possible noise levels with the accommodation being above a public house but I had no need to worry. I took ear plugs, which were not really necessary, and I had a very comfortable night in a very clean and bright room. The bed was enormous and very comfortable, the room was nicely decorated and the bathroom large and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful on check-in and the food in the pub was fresh, tasty and inexpensive. I was only there for one night but I would certainly recommend this establishment to anyone visiting Dublin.
