Interesting
Comfortable enough ; garden with grapes, plums, & a peahen (& her chicks), make the stay unusual ; location is good . . near the Talbingo Golf Club, where the Chinese Restaurant has a good list of dishes . The Tumut 3 Dam & the artificial beach, yatching & swimming area are worth visiting .

Thanks Kooi for review of our Aussie Chillout at Pether Cottage - Talbingo NSW. Help yourself to any of the fruit on the trees. Talbingo has peacocks that wander from place to place in Talbingo. Don't startle them. Great photo opportunity. 5-10 minute walk to shops, country club and Chineses restaurant. Great place for swimming and boating in Talbingo Dam. We have a digital guide to enhance your stay.

Ok but.....
We were comfortable with 4 people but I think it would be very crowded with 10. Very little space for eating as a group. We squeezed 7 around a table at the back door - after moving items and sweeping. It would have been impossible indoors. Inside was clean but outdoor areas definitely needed attention.

Scenic Area
Our family enjoyed our stay at Pether Cottage as a good base to explore the Snowy Mountains. The house itself is an older style with basic styling but has everything you need.

Thanks Lauren for review of our Aussie Chillout at Pether Cottage - Talbingo NSW. If you are into nature then explore Kosciuszko National Park and the beauty that it has to offer. Agree with older styling. Plans to upgrade furniture prior to February 2023. Fully self-contained two bedroom snowy cottage along with Internet, Netflix, Stan and YouTube.

Thanks Kishor for review of our Aussie Chillout at Pether Cottage - Talbingo NSW. Ideal for family or group of friends. There is something for every season. In winter there is snow play, bush walks if weather is fine and Yarrangobilly Caves. Why not have a swim in the thermal pool that is 27 degrees celcius all year around. Regardless of the outdoor temperature.

Charming stay
Pether cottage was a great, quiet cottage where you can take a big breath of fresh air. It was clean and had everything we required for our short stay. Talbingo is such a beautiful little town. I will add that the shop in Talbingo does not have everything you need, especially if you have dietary requirements so best to stock up before getting to Talbingo. And that the fence on one side of the property is knee high so if you have curious/ energetic dogs it is very easy for them to jump it. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay!

Thanks Madeleine for staying at our Aussie Chillout at Pether Cottage - Talbingo NSW. Appreciate the feedback. Agree! Tumut is 45 km from Talbingo. So stock up at Woolworths and Coles before continuing to Talbingo. We are pet friendly. Energetic dogs that can jump is something that you need to take note. Definitely a place where you can get back to nature and enjoy creeks, water ways, fishing, swimming, water holes and water falls.

Tranquil little cottage
We love Talbingo and go regularly, and our stay this time in this little retro cottage was great. It's not fancy but more importantly it was clean and tidy, and the linen on the beds was nice and crisp. The kitchen was equipped with lots of new pots and pans which was nice, and the bathroom looks like its had a bit of a makeover compared to the photos online. We loved how well the backyard was enclosed and our dogs loved running around in the grass. The BBQ was dirty when we went to use it, but we gave it a good clean and enjoyed having some cook ups for brekkie and dinner... we did clean it afterwards too for the next people. Eating at the outside table was a bonus, its so peaceful and no humidity. The check in process was made super easy by David and Hilary. Netflix was a bonus for the evenings. We're glad that we got to stay at Pether Cottage and would love to stay again.

Thanks Eva for review of our Aussie Chillout at Pether Cottage - Talbingo NSW. Really appreciate the comprehensive review. Apologies for BBQ passed onto cleaner to do in future. Pether Cottage gives you the feel of a snowy cottage back in the 60s and 70s but with modern facilities. With current situation it is proving popular to get back to nature, fresh air, walks, peace and serenity to nourish the soul and chillout.

We give guests a link to all the walking tracks in Kosciuszko National Park. The Talbingo Country Club is the only option for night life, a drink and a meal. At same time enjoy view of golf course, surrounding hills and Jounama Dam.

Thanks Marion for reviewing our Aussie Chillout. It is budget as we want you to experience the ambience of a 60s/70s snowy cottage when they built the Snowy Mountain Scheme. Don't be deceived it has a fully equipped kitchen, air con for heating and cooling and pet friendly. WiFi, Netflix and Stan keeps everyone else happy. Appreciated Marion's feedback as to where we can improve. In last few months the bathroom has been renovated and we have new flooring.

Country stay
The manager was quick to respond, which was fantastic. He lives in Queensland so I guess he has little control over how clean the property was. But my family and I were not at all impressed Obviously dogs have been sleeping on the beds. Bedding was very hairy, sheets not changed from last guests Floors not swept or mopped Extremely little bath products in bathroom, face washer and towels as thin as rags I would not recommend this property unless you had dogs that you wanted to keep inside and don't mind it not being clean

Beautiful location - comfy home
Talbingo is a beautiful town, this was my first visit and we loved every minute of our stay. The house is comfortable and fairly clean. Some of the kitchen utensils were overused and may need to be replaced. Our dog enjoyed the big fenced backyard. There is also a place to have a campfire in the backyard which is perfect for the chilly months. All is all, a wonderful place!
Response from VrboOwner on 26 Mar 2020
The first time I saw Talbingo (back in 1989) I thought it was the most beautiful town that I had ever seen. As you drive down the hill approaching Talbingo, you see a small town down by a large dam. If you love the countryside, then this is a must see destination.

Clean, neat, tidy, well-appointed, comfortable holiday home.
We had a great time during our stay at this property. The booking process was easy and there was good communication through emails and text messages. Any questions asked were promptly responded to. The property itself provided a very comfortable stay, an added bonus being that we could have our dogs with us. There was a large-ish fenced back yard where they could have a run, although not a high fence so we didn't leave them alone out there. There was also an undercover verandah area with a table and chairs where we could sit and have a drink. The cottage itself was very clean and neat with a great heater. Well-appointed kitchen. Good washing machine and dryer. Foxtel was an added bonus! Easy walking distance to the shops, which catered for all the basics. The location was great too, close proximity to the lake and park and easy driving distance up the mountain to the snow-fields. An over-all positive experience and great holiday home, highly recommended, good value-for-money!
Response from VrboOwner on 26 Mar 2020
The Cottage is about a 45-60 minute drive to Mount Selwyn Snow fields. Driving up the mountain you could be in snow in about 20 minutes. Every few years it will snow in Talbingo (We have never been there when there has been snow in town)

Talbingo is a beautiful little town. The golf course and small shopping centre are both in walking distance from the Cottage. It is nice to go for a walk around town. I enjoy walking around the streets which are all tree lined when we are visiting Talbingo. It is a very small quiet town with very few cars driving around the streets. Very relaxing.

Picturesque postcard surrounded by hills, water and nature. Easy to chillout from the busyness of life. Easy 10 minute walk to country club and shops or just go for a drive and enjoy all the Kosciusko National Park has to offer. Not just a snow holiday but a back to nature stay during the warmer months with fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming, walks, caving, waterfalls and waterholes. Kangaroos in abundance with the occasional brumbies.

Cosy little cottage
We enjoyed staying at Pether Cottage. The bedrooms are very warm with Daikin heaters. The hot water from shower/bath came instantly which made bathing little children very easy. Talbingo is a lovely town to stay and only short drive to Mt Selwyn snowfield. Pether Cottage is very close to the Country Club and the restaurant there serves very good Chinese food too!

Because Talbingo can be very cold in winter there are air conditioners with both heating and cooling in the lounge room, and both the bedrooms. There is also a clothes dryer (as well as a washing machine) as trying to get clothes dry in winter can be very difficult.

Convenient dog friendly cottage
Many thanks for another comfortable stay at Pether. Although very cold outside and snow on hills, house was comfortably warm. A nice touch to have house preheated for my arrival. Great backyard for my Collie dog although one frosty morning he had to share it with several kangaroos. Wild horses galore in high country foraging for grass in the deep snow. Tough creatures. Until next time.

As stated you can see a variety of animals, from kangaroos in the yard (There have even been peacocks in the yard) Up on the mountains there are heaps of horses roaming in Kosciusko National Park. You may even see wombats and emus. We even once saw a platypus in a small creek near the power station in Talbingo!
