“will not go back”
The beds were too hard. the corridors were filthy. Shower was dripping. room too small and did not get room that we had requested . So compensated with complimentary breakfast. Noisy, all noise from street and hall way and nextdoor rooms was audible. Walls not sound proofed. Some of the staff had no personality. Being greeted at the counter and at breakfast instead of stared at would be polite. Will not be back.
“Loved it!”
Had a fabulous 4 night stay at this hotel in October. The staff were so friendly, the room was great and the location was so close to everthing. Thanks :)
“Great location, reasonable rates. Rooms are OK”
The Ibis is in a great spot, easy walking distance to Chinatown, Sydney CBD, Oxford St area. There is no wireless internet in the rooms however and the rooms are small and basic.
“Fantastic location.”
Great location, close to everything. The hotel room was a little too small however and the wall was just too thin as we can hear everything, outside our room and next door. Didn't like it when the cleaner is cleaning the room next door at 7.00am, they were just too noisy. Apart from that I don't mind staying there again.
“Room small but clean”
I thought the room (twin) was very small. Was glad it was only a one-night stay as if it had been longer I would have felt quite enclosed. Room was very clean. We had breakfast at the hotel (smorgasbord) and it was very nice and good value for money. The location is excellent, within walking distance of theatres, restaurants and shops. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
“Location only”
I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks while I was doing business in Sydney. The only thing going for the hotel is the location and how easy it is to get anywhere in the city. Be careful and book a room here which includes breakfast otherwise you will be stung with a nasty surprise. If you forget this go to a local cafe. You will have to pay for what they call broad band internet which is about the speed of dial up. I had to refresh pages a number of times well constantly to get them to load. Some cafes and fast food places offer free wifi. The initial room I was in was pretty clean except for the bathroom which had some black mold in the shower. You would think I place that gets clean regularly and was recently done up would not have that issue. Another issue which was solved by changing rooms after a week is that with some rooms if you have noisy neighbors you will know about it. It seems during the refurb they went through they have tried to squeeze in more rooms per floor. This means that there are bad seals between the windows and the walls where a wall would meet a window in the middles on the pane.
“A great hotel experience - nearly”
I've stayed at this hotel before and the desk staff service and rooms were of the high standard that we've previously experienced. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. However this time we were told there was a charge to hold our luggage after we checked out . There were 3 of us and at $7.50 a suitcase we felt this was a bit much to hold 3 suitcases for one hour until our transport to the airport arrived. We have all travelled quite a bit and have never come across this before - just one more instance where it's becoming service is available but at a price!
“not too bad”
Hotel location is good, the rooms have thin walls and our room was right next to the lift, everytime the lift arrived at the floor it would make a loud door bell noise when you are trying to sleep this is rather annoying at night and in the morning. The house keepers attempted to clean our room at 8am on a sunday morning which woke myself up and I was not impressed with them what so ever, the room is small but it is still big enough for two people. The room is clean however the shower needed a good clean overall if you need a place to stay for a couple of days at the most I recommed it however you want to stay higher than the 12th floor and you don't want a room near the lift the noise from the lift and people is not good
“tv black and white with poor picture.”
small room with TV that didn't work in downtown neighborhood.
“Not Impressed”
Air conditioner and toilet needed repair in my first room. I was moved to a second room shortly thereafter, doubt that it was within 15mins of my informing you. When I got back to my room approximately 8pm Friday night after being out most of the day, the night club right on the other side of the wall next door was very noisy along with the alleyway at the window, noise continued till past 1am. I didn't really want to move for a 2nd time so put up with it. I am a light sleeper and value peace and quiet at any hotel I stay at. I trust this feedback is useful to you and your company and and I am requesting to be reimbursed in full for this one night stay. First impressions count and I am afraid I was not impressed, will not be staying at the Ibis again.
