“Pleasantly surprised”
Starting with the professional greeting by the concierge, things went well during our two night stay. Although originally placed in a twin room on the third floor, a quiet word with the front desk and we were reassigned a queen room on the seventh. Excellent value!! As we were in town for a family wedding we didn't need to use any facilities (just slept there), but the dining rooms were buzzing each time we passed them. Lots of happy tourists in the lifts and a smile "goodbye" from the conceirge on the way out. Easy parking that is walking distance, but the " one way" streets around the hotel take a bit of getting used to. No noise from monorail or Entertainment Centre crowds. Happy times! Thanks to Expedia Secret Stays we really lucked out- wouldn't have chosen to stay here - but happy we did.

We didn't go anywhere touristy as we were doing "family " things, due to wedding comitments.

“Perfect place to stay if you are going to the Sydney Convention Center!!!”
The hotel is clean and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. We did not meet one person who was rude or inconsiderate, even when we needed to ask a question when they were extremely busy. It is also, literally, just a few hundred feet from the convention center.
The only drawback was the restaurant selection around the hotel. My husband and I don't like Thai food though. There is a lot of Thai food surrounding the hotel. That was the only thing we did not like.
Area recommendations
We did not feel unsafe in any neighborhood that we walked in Sydney. It is a wonderful city to visit!!!

“Fantastic location - Cant wait to go back!!”
Have just spent 6 nights at the Holiday Inn Darling Harbour and would highly recommend the hotel to others. Location was a big plus as it is very close to Paddy's Markets, Chinatown and Darling Harbour. The Monorail and Light Rail are nearby also. Our room was very clean and comfortable and staff courteous and helpful. Looking forward to a return visit!!
Area recommendations
Chinatown is immediately behind the hotel and the choice of restaurants and cheap meals is unbelievable. We ate twice at a food hall upstairs in the Sussex Centre (Chinatown) and the meals were fantastic. Paddy's Market is huge with hundreds of stalls. The next level up in the same building is full of shops and lots of factory outlets for clothing etc. The top level is yet another food hall where we had very cheap, huge breakfasts. We travelled to the Fish Markets (which is a must to visit ) and the Casino on the Light Rail which passes right past Paddy's Market. Darling Harbour is within walking distance with lots to do and see. We used the Monorail to get to the city centre and found the the 1 day and 3 day passes for combined Monorail - Light Rail very convenient as we were able to get on and off as we needed. The Sydney Entertainment Centre is directly across the road from the hotel so worth checking to see which concerts were going to be happening while you were there.

“HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE”
Worst hotel I've ever been to in my life. The pictures and website are not truthful. Really awful. Just horrible experience overall.
Area recommendations
City Center - Hyde Park. Excellent to walk around, bus stops, shops, etc.

“Bad service”
I was initially assigned a horrible room, which I believe had been converted from a storage room. Not only was the layout odd, it was also only a few yards from the Monorail so you couldn't keep the curtains open and there was a lot of noise. It took a lot of complaining to change to a proper room. The personnel at the reception were not friendly and barely spoke English!

“Noisy location”
Rooms in front of hotel face a monorail that has a train passing every fifteen minutes until 10:15PM. The track is approximately 5 feet from room window and the room shook everytime a train passed. Hotel staff refused to change room to rear of hotel. Recommendation is to stay elsewhere.

“Good Value”
Possibly the best value in central Sydney
The one big problem is the toilet paper...you have to fold it 8 times or your fingers will get messy.......even North Korea does better than this. The answer is to take your own.
Car parking is in a secure public car park about 150 metres away for $20 each 24 hours but get your tickets at the hotel it is cheaper.

“Good standard hotel with clean light room in a convenient location”
Breakfast was crowded but the staff did an excellent job to keep the flow moving.
