“GR8 RIGHT SMACK BANG IN THE CITY,DNT USE CAR ONCE!!!”
Basically clean & tidy, comfortable, close to everything, good Brekky & value for money & what we need!!!!
“Good location, good breakfast, fine if you want somewhere to 'crash'”
The best thing about the hotel was the location. we stayed here for 6 nights during our time in sydney and wanted somewhere where we could easily get to places in and around the city. The hotel was perfect for this, but lacked any atmosphere and would not have stayed here if we were not going to be out and about all day. This is mainly due to the hotel having no public areas apart from the breakfast room. The breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice and the cooked food was regularly topped up. The hotel generally was in need of some TLC and needed someone to pay attention to detail. During our 6 days all 3 of the computers were not in service (apart from 1 computer which was ok for about 2 days). The telephone was also out of service - 2 key areas tourist might need to use!!! Due to the hotel having good location, but not designed for relaxation and comfort i think it tended to attract people who wanted to be loud and noisy! We had 2 disrupted nights sleep from other noisy guest. When we spoke to staff about this they were sympathetic and spoke to guests, but it spoiled our time there to have to do this. Overall, good place to stay if you are not wanting to anything other than somewhere to sleep, and if you are heavy sleeper so you wont be woken up by other guests
“convenient location.”
Proximity to Central Stn for airport connection is good. We wished they had a short stop shuttle service b/n hotel and station on rainy days, now that would be great service...
“No Way Again”
Receptionists at the desk were impolite. When I arrived in the hotel around 9AM, I was told that I cannot check in before 2PM. After flying more than 20 hours and spending in total about 30 hours on the way from Europe to Sydney, it was extremely disappointing not to get a room within an acceptable time. Even more disappointing is that the Capitol Square Hotel Sydney does not have a decent lobby where a customer can rest a little bit while the room is prepared. Therefore, I had to leave my luggage at the hotel and go out to spend several hours till I have finally gotten my room. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Worth the cost given the excellent location and friendly/helpful staff, but that's it”
Room was OK, cleanliness was average. Sheets were a bit stained but clean. Found one hair on the sheet. Bathroom looks worn, and toiletries provided in dispensers. Given that we stayed there for only one night, the room met our needs. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Allowed as to leave our fragile valuables at their check-in counter rather than in their store room. The location was excellent. Right next to countless eating places and supermarkets. Walking distance to central train station, Oxford Street, Darling Harbour (but be prepared to walk up and downhill as Sydney is hilly). Would take the pre-paid breakfast option the next time we stay there because breakfast is very expensive in cafes around the hotel. Many eating places around hotel are open till late (past midnight even on weekdays) so not a problem to arrive at hotel late at night. Will definitely stay there again for short stays.
“Great location, but wouldn't stay here again.”
My husband and I arrived on a rather hot and muggy day in Sydney, for our 2 night stay. Check in was fast and easy. The hotel lobby was deliciously air conditioned, unfortunately our room was not. After asking reception is someone could have a look at our air conditioning we we're told rather gruffly that it wasn't working in any of the rooms and there was nothing they could do about it until the technician arrives, which wouldn't be until tomorrow. Needless to say our first night in the room was a stuffy one. The room was shabby, stained and old. A pubic hair on the toilet seat, sticky marks on the beside table, stains on the bed spread and a smear of blood on the wall left me feeling slightly sick to the stomach. The bed was comfy, (we removed the bedspread), the room quiet, the shower was the type that doesn't seem to get you wet. Location was fantastic. Food, shopping, bars and entertainment right on your doorstep. Although my husband and I only needed a place to sleep and shower with a central location that wasn't too overpriced, we wouldn't stay here again. There are other hotels in the same, if not cheaper price range that have a similar location and a higher standard of accommodation and room cleanliness.
“EXTREMELY GOOD FOR PRICE EXCELLENT LOCATION CAN'T FAULT, USED BEFORE WILL USE AGAIN.”
The Hotel was managed very well, very helpful staff 24 hours. the Hotel was very clean. It is the best hotel for the price and location. The room was a little small but everything was clean, good condition and worked. The breakfast was very cheap and good. Everything is so close, especially with the free bus to get to the Harbour. Walking distance to Paddys Market, City Market (very good) and the main shopping precinct in town. We came by air on the train 10 mins for $15 the walked two streets to the hotel. First class.
“Can't complain”
It wasn't the Ritz, but I never have high expectations for three star hotels anyway. I mean come on, I only planned to sleep and shower there to begin with. I read the reviews of past patrons and some of them make it sound like a nasty old cardboard box. Nope. Honestly, if you manage to find the little mold spots in the corners of the carpet here and there, or the one little stain on the comfetter than you have far too much time on your hands! Afew reviews said that there were no food places around except chinese but the hotel is in walking distance to Darling Harbour so there's absolutely food nearby, and if you just take time to walk up George St. you'll find that there's all kinds of different resteraunts suited for every price range. Yes, you will have to walk places, but its worth it! And if you have a disability mass transit is widely available and wheelchair/walker compatable. No, you wont have a room w/ a view, but you'll be right in the heart of the city and everything will be at your fingertips. So, save yourself some money by staying here, wonder across Dixon St. to Darling Harbour, or strait up George St. to Sydney Harbour, grab a flat white (coffee), and enjoy your stay in the most enjoyable city in the world!
“Recommend for short stay”
Room was very clean and tidy, however very small for two people would only recommend for a 1 or 2 day stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
“Great Location”
Close to Central station and Chinatown. Staff very friendly and helpful. Got a great deal from Expedia. Room I had on 4th floor was quiet and clean. TV a bit old and reception on some chanels not that great but I was not in room long anyway. Would recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in staying there again if the price was right.
