“Had a blast”

I had an amazing time staying at Base Sydney.Its a great location close to everything in the heart of Sydney. The staff was very friendly and there were nightly activities planned at the pub next door.The rooms/bathrooms were cleaned daily. At times it could get loud but for the most part with some earplugs you'd be good to go. There was definately more of a younger crowd staying there so it was perfect for me. I would totally stay there or any other Base locations again!

“Great Location w/ Not Very Helpful Staff”

Despite the incident and check in, the hostel was ok with great location. Room and bed itself were nice and clean. The bathroom was a bit dirty and lack of hooks to hang your clothes. Only 1 slow elevator was available. Hostel has a storage for your luggage BEFORE check in time but check out time is 10am and if you want to leave your luggage, the medium locker cost AUD 6 per day (Oct 2010). Even you need it for just a couple of hours you still need to pay for a whole day. If you're looking for hostel with great location, you've found it but if you're looking for friendly atmosphere, this might not be it. Overall it was ok and I also got to meet nice roommates.

“Great budget place”

Although I gave them high marks, bear in mind it is a budget place. The dorms were clean, and the shower / toilet facilities were in good modern condition. It's central loaction makes it an ideal place to stop. There's a full travel agent within the hostel and a great bar next door.

Great place for young people to stay. You'll get to meet new people from all over the world, and there's a lot of fun activities you can do nearby. The bar next door is a nice addition. They even walk around the hostel giving out free shots sometimes. I would love to stay there again.

“A very social hostel”

Base Sydney has a real community spirit. It's a great place to make new friends, which is almost a necessity given how much of your personal space you share with others. There are nightly events at the bar, which feels very much like a student venue. Be prepared for shenanigans of all sorts, especially at the weekend - shared facilites are not for the squeamish, especially when they are used for less-then-appropriate purposes. Be prepared to lose anything you can't keep in your room, such as shower gel and food in the shared kitchen. Above all, this is an experience - if you want privacy, high levels of hygiene, or peace and quiet, go elsewhere. If you like youthful exuberance, a great location, and very low rates, this is for you. Relax and enjoy!

“i recommend this hostel!”

We were only staying for 5 nights. we got put in a 6 bed dorm with three other people. thankfully we got nice room mates which made the experience better. It was still a good hostel for the money we paid and I would definately go back. it was in a good location, cleaner than most hostels, good wifi and the toilets could have been alot worse..

“Like living in a dorm...”

This place is fine if you're with friends and don't mind using a key card to access the toilet. The staff was inconsistently helpful. The location is pretty good--right near Pie Face and QVB. :)
