“A good place to stay”

Having watched the reality t.v. series "Hotel Impossible," I look at places with an eye to improving them. One thing came to mind at the South Bend Super 8--which may be beyond anyone's control due to layout. Namely, I'm sure the swimming pool on the first floor is a draw for many people. However, call it a pool odor, or mildew odor, greets one upon entering the building--and remains with one en route to the elevator. The scent of mildew rises upstairs to some extent, too. Suggestion? Somehow address the "pool smell" that suffuses the environment. It's almost a quasi-locker room odor. Staff with whom I interacted (desk and cleaning) were very pleasant.

“good value for ND football weekend”

We were pleasantly surprised to be able to stay at a hotel so close to Notre Dame for a football weekend at such a reasonable price. The hotel offers very few amenities, and the continental breakfast is pretty meager, but the location and price were great!

“Motel starting to show signs of age.”

The only problems I had were, we had booked a room with a king sized bed, but when we arrived we were put in a room with 2 queen beds. The motel must be older, it could probably use a remodel. Several of the security lights were out in the parking lot. I'm a man, so it didn't bother me that much, but a woman alone might be uncomfortable. Their linen (towels, wash cloths, etc.) were getting worn and soiled. I'm not that hard to please, so not really that big a deal to me, but I did notice those things mentioned above, and.....you asked. ; p

“Will never go back.”

First we were not greeted by the front desk clerk. He just stared at us and said absolutely nothing, and he was rude throughout the entire interaction. When we got to our room, it seemed okay at first, but it smelled like mold. As I glanced at the wall next to the bed I realized I was looking at what looked like human snot. Once I saw that I thought I should check out the pillows and bed. The mattress appeared fine, but the pillows were covered in inside-out pillow cases that were stained yellow from sweat. There also appeared to be blood on the pillows underneath the pillow case. It was a completely gross experience, and we will never stay at that Super 8 again.
